Vintage JULIANA Heraldic Shield Fleur de Lis Star Brooch NEW FIND IIJJ#9054

Your first thought might be: "Is she pulling our leg?" This brooch looks vastly different from the typical, sparkly rhinestone Juliana pieces we all know and love. However, experienced collectors will understand why.

In his book, Memoirs of a Fashion Jewelry Manufacturer, Mr. Frank DeLizza discusses the periods when jewelry buyers moved away from "sparkle," forcing manufacturers to adapt to changing trends. This particular brooch was produced around 1989. You can find the exact advertisement featuring this ribbon line on a model on page 161 of his book (I have included a photo of this advertisement in the listing photos for your reference).

This brooch serves as the centerpiece for one of those ribbon earrings. I have included a photo of the matching earring to illustrate this. D&E frequently repurposed existing brooch designs as centerpieces for their ribbon styles.
