Vintage Juliana Glass Perfume Bottle Bow Figural Brooch IIJJ#9363

An unusually whimsical vintage Juliana (DeLizza & Elster) figural brooch featuring a substantial in-house cast gold-tone bow suspending an ornate clear glass perfume bottle.

The dimensional bow is richly textured with raised beaded detailing and supports a dangling clear glass bottle decorated with an elaborate gold-tone filigree medallion and glossy black oval cabochon. Additional filigree work can be seen through the reverse of the clear bottle.

This is a variation of another known example of the design in which tiny faux pearls are enclosed inside the bottle. This example has the same distinctive construction and decorative treatment, but the clear bottle is left open visually without the pearl-filled interior.

The decorative bottle top is permanently attached and does not remove, making the bottle ornamental rather than functional.

The same distinctive in-house cast bow appears on page 34 of Juliana Jewelry – The Last Generation, where it suspends a cameo dangle. These different versions are a wonderful example of how DeLizza & Elster reused an elaborate casting to create multiple designs.
