Vintage Juliana Clear Rhinestone Cobra Stretch Belt 1979 IIJJ#9395

A striking vintage Juliana (DeLizza & Elster) stretch belt featuring a gold-tone cobra-style band and an elaborate interlocking buckle covered in clear rhinestones.

The centerpiece is formed from sweeping, overlapping rhinestone loops that create a dramatic dimensional buckle. The flexible gold-tone cobra band has the finely ribbed appearance associated with DeLizza & Elster stretch belts and is designed to fit snugly around the waist.

A related interlocking rhinestone buckle design is pictured on a cord belt on page 139 of Frank DeLizza’s book and dated to 1979, helping document this distinctive late-1970s D&E belt design.

This belt measures just under 29 inches long unstretched and is just over 1/2 inch wide. Because it is a stretch belt, it expands beyond the unstretched measurement when worn.

This was clearly a well-loved piece. There is some age-related darkening to several of the clear rhinestones and some rubbing to the gold-tone metal, consistent with a belt that appears to have been frequently worn by its original owner. The wear gives it an authentic vintage character while the rhinestone buckle still creates wonderful sparkle and impact.
