Vintage Juliana Blue Lucite Molten Metal Rhinestone Brooch Pendant IIJJ#8323

A spectacular and highly distinctive vintage Juliana (DeLizza & Elster) brooch/pendant featuring high-domed cobalt blue Lucite cabochons surrounded by brilliant blue rhinestones and elaborate textured gold-tone metalwork.

One of the most fascinating features of this piece is its unusual construction, representing what Frank DeLizza himself called the “molten metal look.” In his memoir, Mr. DeLizza discusses the introduction of a “new molten metal look with plastic cabochon,” describing this creative and distinctive design direction at DeLizza & Elster.

This brooch beautifully illustrates that combination. The smooth, intensely colored blue Lucite cabochons rise dramatically above irregular, heavily textured gold-tone elements. Smaller blue rhinestones are worked throughout the design, adding flashes of sparkle among the sculptural metalwork and creating wonderful depth and dimension.
