Vintage Juliana Blue Glass Geode AB Rhinestone Brooch Pendant IIJJ#4883
A striking vintage Juliana brooch featuring an exceptionally large blue glass “geode” cabochon surrounded by a sparkling halo of coordinating blue aurora borealis rhinestones. The irregular crystalline appearance of the glass creates wonderful depth and texture, while the AB stones flash blue, aqua, violet and green around the edge.
The dramatic oval center is especially impressive from the side, where its highly raised, rugged geode-like surface can be fully appreciated.
The brooch also has a pendant bale, allowing it to be worn either as a traditional brooch or suspended from a chain as a pendant.
DeLizza & Elster used these large oval glass “geode” stones in a variety of quartz-like colors. Similar oval geode designs are illustrated in Ann Pitman’s Juliana reference on pages 86–87, and Frank DeLizza also discussed D&E’s use of large oval glass geodes in his memoir.
Circa 1970–early 1970s.
