D&E Behind the Name

DeLizza & Elster manufactured jewelry for a number of other companies and designers throughout the years.

That means authentic D&E jewelry does not always carry the Juliana name — and sometimes it appears under a name collectors may know for an entirely different reason.

D&E Behind the Name explores those documented relationships through Frank DeLizza’s writings and records, period advertising, known jewelry and pieces with strong provenance.

The goal is not to assume that everything carrying another designer’s name was made by D&E. Instead, we look at the evidence that connects particular designs and periods of production to DeLizza & Elster.

Why These Relationships Matter

DeLizza & Elster was a manufacturer.

A customer could select jewelry from the D&E line, request changes, or have designs adapted to fit its own look and market.

Because of that, jewelry made by DeLizza & Elster for another company may not always look exactly like the classic rhinestone Juliana most collectors first learn to recognize.

Studying these relationships helps us understand the full range of D&E production — and reminds us that the name on a piece does not always tell the entire manufacturing story.
